Scientization refers to the process by which scientific knowledge and expertise increasingly influence various aspects of modern society. This growing impact highlights the importance of evaluating how scientific research resonates beyond traditional academic environments. Moving beyond traditional citation counts, alternative metrics such as Altmetric and PlumX have emerged as popular tools. These platforms measure the online attention and societal impact of research outputs, offering a broader perspective on the reach and significance of scientific work in the digital age and beyond.
I use these platforms to show the viability of measuring ‘scientization’ in this conference presentation presented at Scientization Events and Expansion across Disciplines in Society (SEEDS) Workshop hosted by the University of Luxembourg.
